Allah (swt) describes His Majesty in the Quran as: “Originator of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, ‘Be’ and it is.” (Al Baqarah 2:117)
Al-Badeey, is one of Allah’s (swt) beautiful names mentioned in the Quran that introduces our Creator to us. Had Allah (swt) not guided us, we would not have known how the entire universe and every creation came into existence from nothing.
Who is Al-Badeey?
The name Al-Badeey explains that Allah (swt) is the only Creator Who creates without a prior sample. He doesn’t need anyone’s help, any resources, any work force, any instructions nor any permission to create. He continues to create even now, right from scratch.
Al Badeey has absolute power
Some nations impress us today and we wish to be successful like them. But can anyone of them claim that they build and achieve whatever they have by a single command? No, because it is impossible. Besides, what reaches them is what was decreed for them by Allah (swt).
Only Al-Badeey has the power to offer a simple command “Kun’ and create anything, in any size, form or number, at any location or time. This should be enough to make us fall into prostration before Allah (swt) in awe.
Al-Badeey has no similitude
The creation can never share any resemblance to the Creator. Similarly, there can never be partners ascribed to Allah Al-Badeey, as no one else possesses the same attributes as He does.
The Quran states: “[He is] the Originator of the heavens and the earth. How could He have a son when He does not have a companion [i.e.wife] and He created all things? And He is, of all things, Knowing.” (Al Anaam 6:101)
Allah (swt) is presenting a simple logic. How can people ascribe partners to the only Dominant Originator? He has no match nor need, whereas all creation is weak and dependent on others for their needs. Similarly, they need children to carry on their legacy. Al-Badeey, the Ever Living, is above all such petty worldly desires and demands.
His creation is perfect
The Quran repeatedly mentions the heavens and the earth, because no matter where one lives, these two creations of Allah (swt) cannot be ignored. This leads man to comprehend the perfection, beauty and blessing of what Al-Badeey has created.
Look at the sky. It is such a vast expanse that we cannot take it in one glance. We need to rotate our head from east to west in order to observe it.
Similarly, the sky has layers. Every layer has a different, distinct and significant role. Only Al-Badeey, the Originator could plan, design and execute the creation of the sky with such magnificence.
Al Badeey is Unique and Infallible
When humans want to invent something, they copy Al-Badeey’s creations. They do not have original ideas. Even then, they require a work plan, a task force, funding, and permission from local authorities. They need a design to execute, time to build in stages and review before completion. But is success guaranteed? Experiments can fail. Funds may run out. Technology might backfire or deplete with time. Workers may not perform. The invention might be harmful.
But Al-Badeey has knowledge, authority and control. He is unique in His design. His creations are original and innovative. They are functional and beneficial in their role catering to our exact needs and nature. He only creates with perfection, hence there is no doubt or risk involved.
Have you seen the skies fall down due to age? Has the sky ever gone out of style or has mankind ever thought it obsolete?
Al-Badeey is the owner of all and His is the dominion. Can there ever be a comparison between His creation and man-made copied ‘inventions’?
Discover and worship Al-Badeey
This attribute of Al-Badeey helps us understand other attributes of Allah (swt). It places a sense of wonder and amazement in our hearts.
Remember how the magicians in the Pharaoh’s court fell into prostration when they realized what Allah (swt) had created was not a mirage or magic, it was real and superior in nature? That is exactly how a true believer submits himself wholeheartedly before Allah (swt) when his heart is inspired. He achieves a station of Iman that grants him sweetness and tranquility.
Ask Al-Badeey only
Our invocations can be answered by Al-Badeey when we make Dua to Him in the Prophet’s (sa) choicest words:
“O Allah, I ask You, as You are the Owner of praise, there is none worthy of worship but You alone, You have no partner. You are the Giver of all good. O Creator of the heavens and the earth, Owner of majesty and honour. O Living and Everlasting One, I ask You for paradise and I seek refuge in You from the fire.” (An Nasai)
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّى أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ الْمَنَّانُ بَدِيعُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ يَا ذَا الْجَلاَلِ وَالإِكْرَامِ يَا حَىُّ يَا قَيُّومُ
Every single moment Allah Al-Badeey is creating uncountable things, creatures and people in the seen and unseen realms, most of whom we will never encounter, know or see. His work is in progress until the Final Hour strikes.
