What comes to your mind when you hear the word ‘marriage’? Many would picture love, romance, new beginnings, celebration, joy, blessings, and family. Those who may be anxious about it would imagine tying the knot to be the end of their privacy and freedom, as well as beginning of new responsibilities, rising expenses, disagreements, and departure of control.
Allah (swt), Al-Wakeel (The Disposer of Affairs), has enabled human beings to cherish a hugely facilitated life in Allah’s (swt) beautifully created world. Since Dunya is a testing place for us, Allah (swt) had no reason to grant us the pleasures, tastes, luxuries, and bounties. However, He has done so even without us asking Him for it. Marital relationship is one such gift.
Marriage is a union of two souls who come together to form a sacred contract. They pledge to fear Allah (swt), dispense their roles to the best of their abilities, and seek reward from Allah (swt) for it in the form of the perfect and eternal Jannah, a place to fulfill every desire.
Never in the history of humankind has the institution of marriage been under greater threat than today. Nowadays, we dwell in a very different world, as compared to the one our ancestors or even parents lived in. The emerging times will be stranger than the present days. How? Let us take a look.
We have entered the cyber era. The data that you and I feed into such social media networks as Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter every day in the form of our images, updates, and preferences is akin to building their assets and giving up more and more of our self-control.
In earlier times, countries invaded foreign lands for gaining supremacy. Today, the super power is in the hands of those individual, companies or countries who control data. Why did Elon Musk buy Twitter worth USD 42 billion? 70 countries’ annual spending budget put together is less than this amount. What did he gain by it? Data.
Every physical shipment or post sent and received between two destinations costs us something. But why do the social media companies allow free exchange of information worldwide? They do this to know us in order to create such algorithms that will eventually replace humans with robots. And where humans will remain, they will have limited control over the world they live in. It is already known that doctors will be replaced in as close future as the next 10 years approximately.
The institution of marriage has already been hit severely by this satanic movement of social networking. How? The married couples who use the social media face severe depression due to constant comparisons with other happier and richer couples, develop greed for more, forget about the purpose and reality of their life as explained by the Quran, and make terrible choices that jeopardize their Akhirah.
Those who are not married yet long to delay it further because they are economically independent. This financial independence comes at the cost of social isolation. Why choose to be around real people who give you a headache, when you can enjoy responsibility-free virtual friendships, 5D games, movies, and what not?
Meta is the new name of the company that owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Metaverse is a universe where people will be isolated, controlled, and drawn away from their natural disposition. Nikah between a man and woman is being replaced with adultery, pedophilia, pornography, feminism, and homosexuality.
Ibn Abbas (rtam) reported that the Messenger of Allah (sa) said: “We do not see for those who love one another anything like marriage.” (Ibn Majah) As believers, we should embrace technology to obey our Creator and serve His creation. But most of all – trust and submit to Allah (swt). Go for Nikah. Embrace the Fitrah!
