Al-Muheet encompasses all things with His knowledge, power, mercy, and dominion. Nothing is concealed from Him and nothing escapes Him. This attribute reassures the believers of Allah’s (swt) absolute control over everything in existence. Consequently, they do not need worry about the unknown and the unseen. The word Al-Muheet occurs eight times in the Quran.
“And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And ever is Allah, of all things, encompassing.” (An-Nisa 4:126)
How Does Al-Muheet Encompass Creation?
- By His Knowledge. Allah (swt) knows all that is in the Heavens and in the Earth. His dominion is vast and incomprehensible by us; yet, He knows the details of every living and non-living creation.
- By His Power. Allah (swt) has complete power and authority over every atom in this world, so He is able to bring about any change, anywhere instantly.
- By His Mercy. All the Mercy we experience is from Allah (swt). Al-Muheet blesses and protects us with His mercy.
- By His Force. Sometimes we have evil or corrupt thoughts and feelings hidden in our heart. Al-Muheet will force us to go through a situation that would expose it to us, giving us a chance to repent and change for the better.
Allah, the Al-Muheet, Surrounds Us in Time
He is the first and there is nothing before Him. He is the last and there is nothing after Him. Therefore, He is the only One Who is involved with each one of us in time.
Allah, the Al-Muheet, Surrounds Us in Place
He is the most apparent, and He is the most hidden. No one can be nearer to us than Him, for we perceive His creation through our senses and we understand His attributes through our experiences. We are surrounded by demonstrations of His mercy and power everywhere.
How Does Al-Muheet Inspire Us to be More Patient?
“If good touches you, it distresses them; but if harm strikes you, they rejoice at it. And if you are patient and fear Allah, their plot will not harm you at all. Indeed, Allah (swt) is encompassing of what they do.” (Al Imran 3:120)
Allah, Al-Muheet, knows the deepest feelings and the plots of each person, and He may expose them at the right time. Therefore, we need to support each other in both good times and difficult times with a firm belief in His powers by practicing patience and Taqwa. We must avoid judging or doubting others, because only Al-Muheet can fully comprehend and asses a person’s actions and words.
How Does Al-Muheet Nurture Us?
“He said: O my people, is my family more respected for power by you than Allah? But you put Him behind your backs [in neglect]. Indeed, my Lord is encompassing of what you do.” (Hud 11:92)
In our desire to repent and become better humans, we rely on Allah’s (swt) ability to know and understand every effort we make.
Al-Muheet will bring signs to us in a detailed, clear, and customized manner. When we accept what Allah (swt) opens for us, He will make us understand it and deal with it better than if we did it on our own. In times of transitions, we can become ungrateful, but every transition in life, especially difficult ones, is to make us believe more in Allah (swt). Therefore, we must find peace and comfort in knowing that Al-Muheet has encircled us with His power and mercy.
