The number of pages required for the articles and their relevant word counts are: 1 page – 550 words; 2 pages – 1100 words; 3 pages (main feature) – 1800 words.
Writers wishing to conduct interviews should first seek the permission of “Hiba” editor.
-
Articles should be to-the-point and focused. Points should not be repeated. Also, one article should not contain too many ideas. Any statistics, information or research used in the compilation of any article must reveal its source and authenticity or will be subject to rejection. The same applies also to diagrams / tables / pictures - references must be provided. English translation of the Quran will be taken only from “The Noble Quran” translated by Dr. Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din Al-Hilali and Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan (published by “Darussalam,” Saudi Arabia). The text of the Noble Quran is available also online at: http://www.dusstore.com/TheNobleQuran/. The writers are required to check the quotes and be extra careful when quoting from the Quran and Ahadeeth or when giving references from either one. The writers must not extract information from any websites or published material that holds copyright laws. Quotations from works by other authors must always be accompanied by quotations marks. Place the name of the book or the author in brackets after the quotation. This will clarify that the quoted sentences are not writer’s own original text but have been borrowed from someone else or some place else, giving the proper credit to the source. The article should NOT be a compilation of information from different websites. Even if the writer has reworded it, the ideas are still plagiarized. The article has to be original. Style Guidelines All articles must have the font face “Times New Roman” size 12. Line spacing must be single. -
All non-English words will start with capital letters (e.g., Hadeeth, Adhan, Salah, Saum, etc.). The English meaning of the non-English word may be provided in brackets (e.g., prayer call, prayer, fast, etc.) if necessary. Please refer to the “Glossary of Commonly Used Islamic Terms” to ensure consistency of spelling in the articles. All writers are required to write: (as) as the title for all prophets, (saw) after Prophet Muhammad’s (saw) name, (rta) after the companions’ names. The above abbreviations will later be replaced by the magazine designer with especially designed Arabic icons. Commonly used Arabic terms shall appear as: Subhan’Allah / Jazaak Allah / Alhumdulillah / Masha’Allah / Insha’Allah / Hadeeth / Ahadeeth / Quran / Makkah / Madinah / Shariah / Salah / Zakah / Saum / Hajj. This will be the spelling for Prophet Muhammad’s (saw) name. Writers should not use such abbreviation symbols as &, $, #, etc.
The Magazine Committee reserves the right to change any of the above stated clauses, whenever it deems necessary. Letters to the Editor Your views are important to us - send letters to the editor at
