By Ayesha Zia The Islamic department at Reflections School, Karachi recently held a programme titled “Khalifah Tullah Fil Ardh” in order to groom the leadership qualities of the students. They were expected to perform different skits, short plays, debates and poems, reflecting all that they are being taught. Emphasis was placed to use only what’s available, integrating the concept of the three R’s: recycle, reduce and reuse. Along with presentations, ethics and Tafseer teachers also put forward very interesting and Tarbiyah oriented skits. Interactive teaching techniques were quite evident throughout every performance. The highlight of the event were the student themselves as they played the role of program presenters, stage moderators, event managers, and media moderators. They were seen filling out parents’ survey forms, helping organize the stage, working on the multimedia, and above all, anchoring the entire program in both Arabic and English. When asked, the students commented that they had a good time as such activities ensured that they had fun while learning. The comments given by the mothers and respected guests were also overwhelming encouraging. It is our Dua that these students do prove that they rightfully deserve to be Khalifas of Allah (swt) on this earth. Ameen. |
